Rural, farming community volunteer fire and EMS department seeks good neighbors to become Firefighter, EMT, Paramedic, Auxiliary, or Cadet volunteers. Must live or work in Green Township, Clark County or very closely nearby (chief's discretion). Must commit to actively serve for a time period commensurate with the expense of the initial training provided. Must complete appropriate job-related physical screening. Must complete BCI/NCIC background check. Expected to attend monthly membership meeting as possible (~2 hours on the last Tuesday night). Operational Members - Fire: Must complete 36 hour volunteer firefighter course; level 1 firefighter course recommended but not required. Firefighter 2 course may be taken, but department cannot provide CEUs for this level. Firefighters must complete yearly continuing education requirements; in-house training provided usually meets this requirement with twice monthly fire training (~2 hours on a Tuesday night, ~4 hours on a Saturday morning). Operational Members - EMS: Must complete at least an Emergency Medical Responder (EMR) course; EMT preferred. EMS personnel must complete yearly continuing education requirements; in-house training provided advances but does not always complete this requirement. EMS provider will need to seek outside training sources (seminars, presentations, conferences, online, etc [department will reimburse member]). Once monthly EMS training (~2 hours on a Tuesday night). Commit to cover at least a part of the nightly duty (6pm-6am) schedule. Auxiliary Members: Age 18 or older. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: - Graduation from high school or GED equivalent with no specialized training. - No specific work experience level required. - Certification as a volunteer firefighter/EMT Basic must be obtained within one (1) year of appointment. Miami Township Fire-Rescue can assist with obtaining certification(s).
