The Clay City Volunteer Fire Department is looking for motivated individuals for several positions. We have several needs that can be filled by a wide variety of skill levels and availability. Volunteer Firefighters: The Clay City Volunteer Fire Department serves Powell County, KY with fire suppression, motor vehicle accidents response, medical assists with the Powell County Ambulance Service, technical recues, and several other services. We are looking for individuals who want to serve the community in helping out in these instances. We could use any availability, especially weekdays. Training is provided, no experience required. Kentucky Basic 1 certification must be obtained within 2 years of hire date. This position does require a valid drivers license and reliable transportation to respond to calls. After a year, volunteer performances will be taken to the board of directors with the possibility of advancing to officers positions within the department. Uniforms are provided and meals are often provided during training. Auxiliary Members: We are in need of members to help keep up with paperwork, maintain the station and equipment and support the volunteer firefighters. This position does not require any participation in physical duties of the volunteer firefighter and does not require participation in training of firefighting duties. Junior Firefighters: We are looking to get the next generation of volunteer firefighters involved, trained, and ready to serve their community. Junior firefighter applicants must be minimum 15 years of age. Junior firefighters can participate in training and the hours will be recorded with the Kentucky State Fire Commission. The Beattyville Fire Department is a 100% volunteer department and is looking for new members dedicated to providing professional level fire protection, extrication, rescue, and other essential services to the City of Beattyville and the surrounding county of Lee County Kentucky (through automatic aid agreements). For those wanting to join with no previous experience within the fire service or relevant certifications, we will work with you through in-house training and state fire commission based training to get you the knowledge and skills needed for being a firefighter. Being a 100% volunteer department, we do not expect everyone to be able to attend every meeting, training, incident, etc. We expect members to prioritize based on "family first, job second, fire service when you can".
