Interior firefighters are expected to be able to perform tasks necessary to extinguish fires both within and outside of structures and mobile vehicles and other emergencies. This includes the ability to wear full protective clothing, including self-contained breathing apparatus, deploy and manage hose lines, set up and climb ladders, enter hazardous environments for rescue, and fire suppression. Members wishing to become Interior Firefighters must complete the PA Entry Level Firefighter training program including the SBS and have a desire to attain the Firefighter I ProBoard certification. | Requirements: Application Process -Submit membership application along with required criminal background and child abuse clearances two weeks in advance of interview. -Must attend an interview with the membership committee -Application is presented to the membership to be placed on the roles as a probationary member for 6 months -Members vote on the applicant/probationary member at the regularly scheduled monthly meeting 6 months after the probation began. Training Members are expected to complete initial and ongoing training and certification requirements to remain on operational firefighter status. Evergreen Fire Dept
Evergreen Fire Company is 100% Volunteer. We cover a large district along with our sister Fire Company Berkeley Hills station 247. Evergreen is made up from a many different types of people- CPA's, Business owners, construction workers, and medical professionals. We average around 300 calls per year and growing. We house two engines and a utility. To find out more about our apparatus please check out the apparatus page. Evergreen is quite a unique Fire Company along with other ones in Allegheny County because of a program the Community College of Allegheny County offers to us. Please check out the Fire Vest tab for more information. We have training on Tuesday nights where our members train to better themselves in firefighting tactics and to provided the community with the best fire protection possible. We also staff our fire house at least two nights a week besides Tuesday. Those days are Wednesday and Thursday we do this in a effort to reduce the home response to better serve the community.
