The North Liberty Fire Department is a busy and professional volunteer fire department. The NLFD currently has 40 members, both that live in town and out of town that serve our community of approximately 20,000 people and 56 square miles. The NLFD is a progressive and innovative fire department that is well served by the city of North Liberty and takes pride in our training and our commitment to our community. Provide temporary care for dogs in your home. Volunteers must be 21+ years old, and Dogs Forever will cover all veterinary expenses and food.

Feed, walk, clean up after, administer meds, and socialize our shelter dogs. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and available during specified times.

Assist with fundraising activities, staff booths/events, bake treats, post flyers, and collect items for raffle baskets. No minimum age specified.

While Dog Walkers are walking dogs, remain at the shelter to do essential tasks such as preparing food and meds, doing laundry, and cleaning kennels. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old.

Drive to several clients’ homes in Cedar Rapids, Marion, or Hiawatha once a month to deliver dry pet food. Volunteers will bring the food into the home or leave it at the door if the client isn’t available. The time commitment is 30 to 60 minutes monthly.
