Volunteers are needed to unload food, stock shelves, and provide a welcoming environment for families visiting the pantry. Volunteer shifts typically run from 3:30 PM to 6:30 PM on the days the pantry is open.

As an Administrative Support Volunteer, you will provide office support for the Unity Hospice team. Tasks may include organizing mailings, computer work, and creating care packets to assist in the daily operations of the hospice.

As a Patient Care Volunteer, you will visit patients in nursing homes or private homes, providing companionship and a listening ear. This role is crucial for offering emotional support to those in hospice care.

Conduct financial audits to ensure the organization's financial integrity and compliance. Volunteers will review financial records and provide recommendations for improvements.

Assist in setting up classrooms for STEM activities, ensuring all materials and equipment are ready for use. Volunteers will help create an organized and conducive learning environment.

Perform legal audits to ensure compliance with regulations and organizational policies. Volunteers will review legal documents and provide guidance on legal matters.

Support educators in delivering STEM activities and mentoring sessions to students. Volunteers will help prepare materials and assist during classes to facilitate a smooth learning experience.

In the Music Memory program, you will work with Alzheimer’s patients to communicate through music. This role helps patients find renewed meaning in their lives through personalized musical experiences.

Provide administrative support to the organization's office operations. Responsibilities include organizing files, managing communications, and assisting with general office tasks.

We are a 100% volunteer department located 46 miles directly west of the city of Chicago. We do ask volunteers to be within a certain distance of the Fire district to help in responding too calls. We are a close community and strive to help in many opportunities. We do meet weekly for training and once your past your probation period you are able to gain knowledge and respond to calls. We also cover standbys one weekend per month. Groups can volunteer to help with stocking shelves, packing groceries, sorting donations, shopping, picking up donations, and assisting with monthly deliveries and distributions.

Help unpack food deliveries from the Northern Illinois Food Bank and stock shelves in the pantry. This occurs on the first Friday of each month.

Assist clients with shopping during designated hours, help them get food to their cars, and organize donations. Volunteers are needed on the first and third Saturday mornings and the following Monday evenings.

Package and transport healthy snacks and food items to local schools and the Hinckley Library when supplies are low. This occurs on various dates and times.

Pick up food from the Northern Illinois Food Bank in DeKalb and transport it to Waterman. This takes place on the first and third Monday of each month.

Volunteers will assist with various tasks at the Illinois Railway Museum during the Day Out with Thomas event. Responsibilities include managing lines, selling concessions, and assisting with games and activities. High school students can volunteer independently, while parents and guardians can volunteer on behalf of students.
