Assist in maintaining the grounds of the historic Adams Mill, ensuring the area is clean and presentable for visitors. Volunteers will help with tasks such as landscaping, cleaning, and minor repairs.

Utilize your writing and research skills to assist Adams Mill Inc. in securing funding through grants. Volunteers will research potential funding opportunities and assist in writing grant proposals.

Bring the gift of song to Friends where they can participate in the singing. Assure written words are available for those who can follow written lyrics. Create a list of songs based on a theme e.g. patriotic, seasonal, holiday, faith-based, genre, etc.

Greet Friends and Caregivers as well as other Volunteers to assure they feel welcome. Answer telephone: screen and direct calls, take and relay messages and provide basic information to callers.

Spend time with an individual Friend focused on that Friend’s special interests e.g. reading, talking, story-telling, strolling indoors or outdoors, a game, etc.

Facilitate playing games such as trivia, Pictionary, bingo, cards, board games, naming games, etc. Or, play an adapted sport side-by-side with a Friend for basic enjoyment and exercise.

Lead specific exercises with a group of Friends and Staff. Exercise examples include: stretching, chair yoga, chair qi gong, chair aerobics, etc.

Regularly take photographs of Friends with proper releases, Staff, Volunteers and special events at Joyful Journey. Photos will be used for internal communication, community outreach, marketing materials, and newsletters to families.

During Camp Courage, volunteers assist with riding instruction and activities, working with groups of campers. Volunteers must be able to work independently and tolerate varying temperatures.

Volunteers assist during therapeutic riding and horsemanship classes, helping participants with horse handling and grooming. Volunteers must attend an orientation to familiarize themselves with safety and operational procedures.

Volunteers organize or help with special events and fundraisers, such as community events and parades. They may also assist with grant writing and fundraising efforts.

Assist in organizing and facilitating the Back to School Celebration & Community Health Fair. Responsibilities include setting up booths, guiding attendees, and providing information about health resources.

Volunteers are needed on the day of the art fair to assist artists with set up and tear down, provide breaks for artists, hand out programs to patrons, and help man the information booth. Volunteers will enjoy the beautiful weather and browse the booths full of incredible art.

Volunteers are needed to help engage with the community through various fellowship and educational events. Responsibilities include organizing events, providing information on immigrant rights, and supporting advocacy efforts.
