Mission Township Fire Department is a rural county fire department that borders the west side of Topeka. We proudly serve approximately 9,000 residents living in a township of 35 square miles. Our department consists of nine full time officers and several paid-on-call volunteers. We provide fire suppression, emergency medical services, and rescue operations. We also maintain specialized technical and water rescue teams. Our team provides mutual aid to surrounding counties when requested. <br><br> We are currently looking for qualified applicants to strengthen our volunteer base. Our department and our residents rely strongly on the support of our volunteers. As a volunteer, you will be expected to assist the department by responding to calls, volunteering for special events, and by attending and receiving training. Auburn Fire Department, Shawnee County Fire District #2 is looking for highly motivated individuals to join our department as a part time/volunteer firefighter. Being a member of this agency offers many opportunities for service, training, and professional development. At around 400 calls a year we prioritize training and preparedness to ensure we meet the service expectations of our community. We are and advanced life support provider and while EMS licensing is not required it is highly encouraged and supported with financial assistance for members that have shown the motivation and dedication to succeed. We collaborate with surrounding departments to provide the maximum opportunities for training, certification, and continuing education. After reviewing your application and background check you will be contacted to schedule a physical agility test and interview session. If you are selected an offer will be made and you will be able to start training with the department immediately and will be required to participate in the next available recruit academy. Call response is on a volunteer basis however all positions are paid hourly. Shift eligibility is available for qualified personnel and consists of 8am-5pm 7 days a week and 8pm-5am Mon-Thurs.
