Volunteers assist in the Outreach Van which tours Albany for 8 hours each day, handing out food, water, and blankets to people staying outside. Volunteers can help staff during one of the two daily shifts: 2-6pm or 6-10pm.

Volunteers prepare lunch and dinner for approximately 40 people on Saturdays and Sundays. Tasks include providing, cooking, serving, and clearing away meals.

Hospitality Volunteers spend time with guests and help with chores that keep the shelter running. Tasks include kitchen work, housekeeping, laundry, office tasks, gardening, maintenance, front desk duties, and more. Volunteers also engage with guests by reading stories, playing games, or simply listening to them.

In May, volunteers can help with Community Action Month projects, including food distributions and other community support activities.

Board members support NYSCASA’s activities and long-term planning, focusing on nonprofit management, fundraising, and advocacy. Candidates should be committed to ending sexual violence and addressing oppression.
