The MEFD is actively recruiting both experienced and inexperienced individuals who wish to serve as Volunteer Firefighters, Emergency Medical Responders(EMRs), Support Members, etc in the Lee County, Mississippi fire system. There are many jobs throughout the fire department and we have a spot for you. Please contact us if you are interested in volunteering. In the last ten years our number of volunteers has continued to decrease, while our call volume has continued to increase. We are in need of volunteers to help bring department staffing levels back to what they need to be. Even in a volunteer department staffing levels can play a part in our ISO rating and the better ISO rating we have the cheaper everyone's insurance is in our community. Being a volunteer for your community is a very rewarding opportunity. There are a number of great benefits offered to volunteers we would love to tell you about. We will provide training for all levels and for all positions. We truly are neighbors helping neighbors. We encourage anyone who is interested in volunteering to contact us or come by the station.
