Work one-on-one with First-Gen Forward Scholars in college who are actively seeking internship and employment opportunities. Support Scholars with updating their resumes and cover letters so they can showcase their experiences and achievements in this competitive job market.

Review and provide feedback on Scholars’ personal statements and supplemental essays to ensure their submissions are high-quality and error-free. Skilled volunteers with exceptional writing and editing skills are strongly encouraged to apply!

Support families as they navigate the complexities of the financial aid process. Assist with completing and submitting financial aid applications (FAFSA, NYS TAP, and CSS Profile); reviewing financial award letters; and identifying options for narrowing the college cost gap.

Partner with rising seniors to support them throughout the college admissions process. Coaches assist with the entire college application process, from building their college lists and writing personal statements, to completing the Common Application and providing guidance and encouragement.

Host weekly chats with ESL students, fostering confidence in their English-speaking abilities. Engage in direct one-on-one and small group interactions with students throughout the semester.

Assist with special projects that enhance the campus experience, such as restoring the beauty of historic landscaping and assisting with cultural arts programs.

Provide invaluable support at tutorial centers across campus, helping students develop their reading, writing, math, science, and computer skills.

Organize and manage drives to collect essential items for those in need. Volunteers will coordinate collection points and ensure items are distributed to the appropriate WJCS programs.

Support school-based community service projects by working with students and educators to implement initiatives that benefit the community. Volunteers will guide students in project planning and execution.

Participate in corporate employee engagement projects designed to strengthen community ties and support WJCS initiatives. Volunteers will work with corporate teams to execute these projects.

Assist in organizing and executing Bar and Bat Mitzvah projects that benefit the community. Volunteers will engage with youth and help facilitate meaningful projects.

Help in the lab with laundry, assist lab technicians when needed, and sanitize equipment to ensure the safe distribution of donor milk.

Assist with answering phones, assembling donor packets, faxing, emailing, and other administrative tasks to help get precious donor milk to infants in need.

Put together boxes for donors, help pack orders for outpatients, and clean and reset incoming boxes for reuse to support the milk bank's operations.

Assist with housekeeping, maintenance, and daily household activities to provide comfort to houseguests. Volunteers must commit to a minimum of two 3-hour shifts per month for at least one year.
