As a hospice volunteer, you will assist patients with simple household chores, provide bedside companionship, and spend quality time with those who are seriously ill. This role is perfect for caring individuals who want to make a difference in the lives of patients and their families.

Provide temporary homes for pets in need, helping them transition to permanent homes. Foster volunteers care for animals and support their socialization and training.

Participate in the P.A.W.S. program, helping with animal care, shelter maintenance, and community outreach activities. Volunteers will engage with the public and assist in educational programs.

Engage in reading sessions with shelter animals to improve their socialization and provide comfort. Volunteers will read to animals and help them become more adoptable.

Sign up as a general volunteer to assist with various projects throughout the year at Black Run Preserve. Volunteers will be added to email announcements for upcoming opportunities to support and sustain the preserve.

Become a member of the Trail Crew and help maintain the paths at Black Run Preserve. Participate in occasional events to clean up trails, remove overgrowth, and address debris left by illegal dumping, contributing to the preservation of the environment.

We Need You! Don’t Delay, Join Today! We are always looking for volunteer Firefighters and EMTs. The Junior Firefighter/EMT program begins at 16 years of age. Full membership eligibility begins at 18 years of age. When am I on duty? Members have a variety of duty options and shifts, with primary coverage needed during weeknights, weekends, and weekend nights. We have bunk rooms, as well as comfortable facilities for studying, sleeping, cooking and relaxing when not on calls. Do I get paid? Trained volunteer firefighters and EMTs are available to participate in our monthly stipend program. Depending on your activity level, you may be eligible for a monthly stipend between $50 and $800. What training will I receive? Evesham Fire-Rescue will provide Firefighter and/or Emergency Medical Technician certification through one of our local fire and EMS academies. Training courses are available during the evening hours and on weekends. All tuition, equipment, and safety gear is provided by the department. Required training for a firefighter consists of approximately 125 hours of basic firefighting techniques including; fire behavior, rescue, salvage, overhaul, ladder practices, ventilation, firefighting tactics, water supply and more. Required training for an Emergency Medical Technician consists of a 240 hour state certification course which includes ambulance operations, CPR, bandaging, splinting, oxygen delivery, patient assessment, and more. Assist Misfit Angels of South Jersey with fundraising efforts and events. Volunteers can help by inviting friends to events, brainstorming fundraising ideas, and participating in activities to raise money for the rescue and care of dogs.

Greet visitors at the Nature Center, assist with animal care and tabling, and help maintain the grounds and wildlife enclosures. Volunteers also support events, weddings, and festivals.

Assist in the care and rehabilitation of injured and orphaned wildlife at the Wildlife Hospital. Responsibilities include feeding, cleaning, and providing general care for the animals.

Assist at the Food Bank of South Jersey by organizing and distributing food to those in need. Volunteers help ensure that food reaches the community efficiently and effectively.

Help assemble Blessing Bags for the homeless, which include essential items for those in need. Volunteers will work in teams to organize and pack these bags for distribution.

Patient/Family Support volunteers visit Samaritan patients and families in their homes, at inpatient hospice centers, or in long-term care facilities. They provide companionship, engage in conversation, and share activities such as reading or playing games.

Friendly Callers engage in meaningful conversations with adults who are socially isolated or lonely, making calls from home to provide companionship and support.

Vigil volunteers provide a supportive presence during a patient’s final hours, offering peace and solace. They must first serve as patient/family support volunteers and complete advanced training.

Veterans provide support to fellow veterans, sharing service stories and assisting in presentations. Volunteers receive complete training to ensure they are comfortable in this rewarding role.

Administrative volunteers assist in the main office with tasks like typing, filing, and data entry, helping ensure the efficient operation of Samaritan’s programs and services.
