You have taken the first step toward becoming part of an exciting team. You may have ended up here because you have always wondered about being a volunteer firefighter. Or, perhaps you are curious about what it entails to be a member of the department. Over the years a lot has changed in the fire service and with the Guilderland Fire Department. Equipment evolves, training increases and the types of incidents the department responds to has grown quite a bit. One thing that never changes however is the sense of family, community and tradition which is a large part of the fire service. When you join the department, you become part of our family. Our members are a close-knit group of men and women whose primary focus is to work and train hard so that we are ready to help anyone in our community when the need arises. The fire service is very family oriented and the Guilderland Fire Department is no different. Our members families are often invited to picnics, awards dinners, baseball games, day trips, community events etc. In fact, our members are so close that often families even choose to vacation together. If you would like to learn more, we would love to setup a time for you to come visit the station. We can provide you with an overview of the department along with a station tour. Meeting in person will provide us the ability to learn more about you and you’re goals as well as provide us a chance to ensure we can answer all your questions. | Requirements: If you are between the ages of 16 and 65 and are a member of the community in good standing you are eligible for membership in the Guilderland Fire Department.
