Madison Fire Department
Working under direct supervision, and while operating in a team environment, responds to and assists in a variety of emergency and non-emergency situations including structures, transportation, wild lands and medical emergencies. Performs emergency equipment maintenance and performs routine station maintenance duties. Performs community fire and injury prevention responsibilities. This will be an entry level position within our department. Responsibilities are to obtain the training needed to respond to emergencies within the fire district. This training can be obtained through in house trainings, meetings, NC community college system, or on the job training. This position is allowed to respond to emergencies within our district. | Requirements: 18 years of age for Firefighters, live with 5 miles of the district boundary, Must pass an acceptable criminal background check, drug/alcohol screening and driving record check. TRAINING REQUIREMENTS No previous training or experience is necessary. All personnel are required to complete a minimum number of training hours annually according to the individual’s position and level of responsibility within the department. Required training is hosted by the department and other similar institutions throughout the state; fees for required training may be reimbursed by the department upon successful completion of the training if reimbursement funds are available.
