Firefighters will respond to structure fires, wildland fires, motor vehicle accidents, hazardous materials incidents, emergency medical service calls, hazardous weather emergencies, and any other incidents that are required of the department. Will respond within the Rogers Park/Turkey Creek Community of Pike County. Will respond to requests for mutual aid with participating mutual aid departments as required. Must be able to life 25 pounds consistently, 50 pounds often, and 100 pounds occasionally. | Requirements: Must be at least 15 years of age to apply as a Junior Firefighter. Must be at least 18 years of age to apply as a Firefighter. Must be alcohol/drug free. Must have valid KY Operator License (If applying for Firefighter Position) Must have clean criminal background and driving record. Will be responsible for providing residential and commercial fire suppression duties, automobile accident response and patient extrication, hazardous materials response to the operations level, assisting EMS crews on scenes, provide technical rope rescue services, and off-road rescue services. | Requirements: Must be 18 years of age at time of application. Must be drug free. Must be alcohol free. High School Graduate or GED. Associate Degree in Fire Science Preferred but NOT REQUIRED! Emergency Medical Responder, Emergency Medical Technician, or Paramedic Licensure preferred but NOT REQUIRED! Must have a good moral compass. Must be willing to help others. Must be willing to place self in harms way for the welfare of others. Must understand that this position is 100% Volunteer and non-compensatory. Obtain 20 hours of initial training prior to being eligible to response. Obtain 150 hours of training as mandated by the KY Fire Commission within 2 years of employment. Are you interested in becoming a firefighter? The essential job of the Probationary Firefighter after earning state required certifications includes; combating and extinguishing fires, performing rescues, providing first aid, conducting ventilation, forcible entry, salvage, overhaul, and public fire education. They also perform general cleaning and housekeeping duties, building maintenance, equipment maintenance, and apparatus maintenance. Probationary Firefighters will need to operate individually and as a member of the firefighting team during various training exercises to gain experience and knowledge of our operations. Our official department meetings are open to the public on the first Monday of every month at 7pm; feel free to stop by to meet and question our members.
