The Washington Fire Department and FAST Squad are looking for members to fill the roles of Firefighter or EMT. The all-volunteer department covers primary response to The Town of Washington and a portion of the Town of Orange, along with mutual aid responses to neighboring towns. The Department provides fire, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, and rescue services. Emergency medical services are provided by the First Aid Stabilization Team (FAST) Squad with patient transport provided by Barre Town EMS or First Branch Ambulance (Chelsea). The Washington Fire Department averages 50 calls annually, and FAST Squad averages 125 responses. | Requirements: No previous firefighting or EMS experience is required. Participate in gleaning activities to harvest surplus produce from Vermont farms during the growing season, typically mid-June through late September. This family-friendly opportunity is available for all ages and takes place in Chittenden County and southwestern Vermont, with varying days and times based on location.

Help prepare meals for congregate lunches and for Meals on Wheels recipients. Responsibilities include processing vegetables, cooking, cleaning, and packaging food to support the nutritional needs of older adults.

Deliver nutritious meals and provide wellness check-ins to older adults in your community. Regular and substitute drivers are needed across central Vermont to ensure that seniors receive their meals and companionship.

Skilled trades volunteers assist with odd jobs requiring expertise in areas such as carpentry, welding, machining, and small engine mechanics. Volunteers with specialty skills are encouraged to apply.

General volunteers assist with a variety of tasks including animal feeding and care, manure pickup, yard clean-up, fence and enclosure construction and repair, painting, fundraising efforts, and general outreach. All skill and experience levels are welcome.
