If accepted, the Firefighter is responsible for responding to medical calls for service, wrecks, and fires within our district. in 2020, WVFD responded to over 600 calls for service. Responders carry two-way radios and are dispatched from their homes to respond to a wide array of emergencies. Our primary type of response is to motor vehicle collisions. We use the world famous Jaws-of-Life to free victims from wreckage. We also respond to all of technical rescue needs of Cannon County, Woodbury, and Auburntown. Other type mission include water rescue, land search and rescue, animal rescue, vertical/cave/confined space rescue, farm rescue, disaster response, and adverse weather response. | Requirements: 1. Must be of good moral character. 4. Must be able to perform, or assist in required duties of the Cannon County Rescue Squad, Inc. 5. Must become familiar with the use of all rescue equipment. 6. Must attend meetings, drills, and all functions of the Squad. 7. Must become Vehicle Extrication Certified within twelve (12) months of becoming a Member of the Squad. 8. To quality for membership, an applicant must be a legal citizen of the United States, or must be a nationalized citizen of the United States, or must posses a legal permit to live and work in the United States. 9. New applicants will be denied Membership if they have a felony conviction against their record.
