Pemberville-Freedom Fire Dept
The Pemberville-Freedom Fire Department (PFFD) provides Fire and EMS to the Village of Pemberville, Freedom Township and Parts of Webster Township in Wood County Ohio, covering a total 43 sq. miles. The Pemberville-Freedom Fire Department consists of 50 part-time and paid per call members that includes the Chief, Assistant Chief, Deputy Chief, (4) Captains and (2) Lieutenants. The Pemberville-Freedom Fire Department provides a day crew shift that works from 0800 to 1700. The day crew normally consists of a Paramedic Firefighter and an EMT Firefighter. All day crew personnel are required to maintain a minimum Firefighter I certification and a EMS certification of EMT-Basic but many are certified at an ALS (advanced life support) level. The quality of fire protection available to the citizens of the coverage area is evaluated by the Insurance Services Office (ISO). The insurance industry relies on ISO to determine insurance rates for business, industry, and homeowners. The Pemberville-Freedom Fire Department has earned an ISO Class 5 rating.
