Volunteers with well-behaved pets visit patients in the Skilled Nursing Unit, Acute Care Unit, and Psychiatric Unit. Pets must be pre-screened, have up-to-date shot records, and be approved by a certified occupational therapy assistant.

Responsible for greeting and escorting new patients to Registration and/or Triage area. Acts as a liaison between family members in the waiting room and staff, and the patient in the treatment area. Volunteers also escort family members to the patient being treated when appropriate.

Volunteers observe therapists at work, run errands, bring patients to the gym for therapy treatments, and help out as needed. This opportunity provides insight into the physical therapy profession.

Volunteers operate the cash register and assist with basic merchandising duties in the hospital's gift shop. This role is ideal for those who enjoy interacting with people in a busy environment.

The Indiana Fire Association is a 100% volunteer department located in Southwest Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pennsylvania. Our membership is comprised of local residents and students from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. It is the mission of the Indiana Fire Association to protect the lives and property of the residents of the Indiana Borough, White Township and surrounding Communities by providing the highest quality fire suppression and rescue services. We will continue to seek new opportunities to serve our neighbors and to strive for excellence in the services we provide, through continued education and training. Most of our members at Indiana Fire Association have entered the department with no previous fire or EMS experience. Indiana Fire Association firefighters pride themselves on a strong foundation of training that begins on the first day. While formal training is eventually required, new members are able to ride in a limited capacity after receiving basic in-house training. Initial formal training consists of the Essentials of Firefighting class taught at the Indiana County Public Safty Academy in Homer City, PA. This classes hours vary and span over a couple months. Students receive instruction in theories of fire behavior and suppression, forcible entry, ventilation, property salvage, basic hazardous materials training, as well as first aid and CPR. Most of the class is hands-on and successful completion results in National Certification as a Basic Firefighter. Upon completing the Essentials of Firefighting class, members are welcome to take additional specialty classes that are applicable to our operations that interest them. Such classes include vehicle rescue, rope rescue, hazardous materials, and firefighting operations. Perhaps the most important aspect of our training comes from our monthly training nights which are held every Thursday night from 6:30-9pm. Join the Indiana Players as a volunteer in various roles such as acting, directing, stage management, music and choreography, lights, sound, backstage crew, set construction, painting, props, wardrobe, make-up, theatre upkeep, maintenance, box office, tickets, and ushering. No previous experience is required, except for directing mainstage productions, which requires prior experience with the Indiana Players.

Assist with various tasks during events at The Indiana Theater, including ushering, ticketing, and providing information to guests. Volunteers must be over 18 or have parental permission if under 18.

Volunteers can engage in a variety of tasks such as distributing promotional materials around town, staffing the market information booth, assisting with market day set-up and break-down, contributing to the blog with recipes, and conducting customer surveys and data entry. Opportunities are available for both short-term and ongoing involvement.
