The Apshawa Volunteer Fire Company of West Milford, NJ is always looking for eager and interested prospective Firefighters. All training and firefighting equipment is provided to firefighters. Comradeship, lasting friendships and the sense of pride in yourself and your community are the payoffs. New candidates will attend a Fire Academy for required training with opportunities for additional training throughout you time with the fire department, there is always more to learn. After background and physical check you will be appointed by the town and can start riding to emergency calls and participating in FD activities even while attending academy. Our members consist of people from all walks of life, both male and females, that want to help their community and neighbors in their time of need. | Requirements: Must be at least 16 to be a Junior Firefighter, at 18 after training you can be a full firefighter. In order to join the state Relief Association you must be under the age of 40. You should be in reasonably good health and able to perform varied physical activities.
