Volunteer firefighters provide fire prevention and fire suppression services for the department's primary response area, as well as providing mutual aid support to surrounding departments. Firefighters are expected to engage in regular training, achieve and maintain certification as a Firefighter I (or higher) by the Kentucky Commission on Fire Protection, Personnel, Standards and Education, and serve actively in department activities. In addition to fire prevention and suppression, firefighters are expected to participate in public relations activities, equipment maintenance and station cleanup, fund raising and community service activities.
