The WHVFD is a group of individuals dedicated to the preservation of life and property to the best of abilities without expectation of personal gain. It shall attempt to provide aid to any individual or agency so long as it does not endanger the white hall community. Volunteer Firefighters: The Clay City Volunteer Fire Department serves Powell County, KY with fire suppression, motor vehicle accidents response, medical assists with the Powell County Ambulance Service, technical recues, and several other services. We are looking for individuals who want to serve the community in helping out in these instances. We could use any availability, especially weekdays. Training is provided, no experience required. Kentucky Basic 1 certification must be obtained within 2 years of hire date. This position does require a valid drivers license and reliable transportation to respond to calls. After a year, volunteer performances will be taken to the board of directors with the possibility of advancing to officers positions within the department. Uniforms are provided and meals are often provided during training. Auxiliary Members: We are in need of members to help keep up with paperwork, maintain the station and equipment and support the volunteer firefighters. This position does not require any participation in physical duties of the volunteer firefighter and does not require participation in training of firefighting duties. Junior Firefighters: We are looking to get the next generation of volunteer firefighters involved, trained, and ready to serve their community. Junior firefighter applicants must be minimum 15 years of age. Junior firefighters can participate in training and the hours will be recorded with the Kentucky State Fire Commission. Squad members also provide assistance to EMS, standby first aid and support services for public events, traffic control at emergency incident scenes and public events, and a variety of other public safety services.
