The Volunteer Firefighter serves the community by responding to a wide variety of situations, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for information or assistance. They perform within the scope of the policies and procedures of the Community Fire Company and the Forks Township Fire Department and they perform duties in the following general categories: fire suppression, rescue or emergency medical aid, hazardous material responses, training, building inspections and public education. The Volunteer FF normally works under the supervision of a department officer and is expected to function effectively as part of a highly trained team. Required to attend company and other organizational meetings. The Volunteer FF is expected to respond from home or work to Department calls. The Junior Firefighter position at Good Will Fire Company #1 is an entry-level role designed for individuals ages 16 to 18 interested in learning the skills and duties of a firefighter while contributing to the safety and well-being of the Belvidere community. As a Junior Firefighter, you will participate in a basic training program to learn skills and gain an undertanding of emergency responses, fire prevention activities, and company operations. This position offers an opportunity to gain basic skills in firefighting, rescue operations, and emergency response protocols, while working under the guidance of active firefighters and company officers. Junior Firefighters must adhere to all safety protocols and operational procedures of the GWFC and the New Jersey Division of Fire and Safety. | Requirements: Junior Firefighters are strongly encouraged to attend weekly training drills with the department to prepare them for the many challenges presented in an emergency situation. These Drills are closely supervised by fire department training officers and fire officers. In both training sessions and actual emergency situations, the safety of our Junior Firefighters are of paramount concern to the department. As such, Junior Firefighters are closely supervised and limited in activities and duties they can participate in. Whitehall Bureau of Fire is a progressive Volunteer Fire department with five stations. We are an all-hazards department. Assisting our Public in Firefighting, Vehicle Extrication, Dive and Swift water rescue. As well as a member of the county Rescue Task Force and Rapid Intervention Team. We also educate our public in Fire safety with our smokehouse trailer for children. All training is supplied by the department as well as equipment. Whitehall is one of three departments in the county with its own training grounds. Of the three we are the only training facility that utilizes live fire burns. | Requirements: We require that in the first month our member, learn where equipment is on the apparatus assigned to their station. As well as complete National Incident Management System 100, 200, 700, 800 and Haz-Mat awareness. These are an online course. In 2019 the members of Lower Saucon Fire Rescue dedicated over 4,050 hours of responding to emergency calls, training, and performing equipment and station maintenance. We responded to 705 calls.
