The Woodson Volunteer Fire Department is 100% volunteer, and we are always seeking quality individuals to join the department. Woodson VFD serves the community of Woodson, as well as Throckmorton County, and we provide mutual aid to surrounding counties. This is a unique opportunity for those looking to make a difference in our community. Members of the department respond to a wide variety of incidents, including structure fires, wildland fires, industrial emergencies, automobile accidents, and medical emergencies. Training is provided by the department, and can include training in both fire and emergency medical services. Training is conducted at the departmental level, in conjunction with other departments, and at area schools. As a member of the department, you will have the opportunity to participate in some of the largest, most demanding emergency situations in our area. You will get to see and do things most people will never have the opportunity to experience. If extinguishing a house fire, battling a large wildfire, or helping someone in need appeals to you, apply today! | Requirements: To be eligible for membership, you must meet the following requirements: - Be at least 18 years of age - Be capable of lifting at least 50 pounds - Be capable of operating in demanding environments for extended periods of time - Be willing to train and reach certifications objectives in a timely manner - Attend meetings on the first, third, and fifth Monday of every month, in addition to some weekends - Refrain from the use of drugs and/or alcohol | Categories: EMT, Firefighter
