The Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department began serving the local community in 1907. Its membership has always been, and still is, comprised completely of volunteers from the local area. The two main category requirements are as follows: Junior Firefighter: must be between the ages of 16-18 and have a sponsor. Full Firefighter: must be at least 18 years old. Must be in good physical health and can pass a doctor provided physical as well as a background check. For Full Firefighters, you will be required to attend the Fire Academy and become certified as a NJ State Firefighter within your first year of being a firefighter. Ambassador Volunteers welcome visitors and answer questions about the arboretum and the Environmental Education Center. They help visitors feel informed and engaged during their visit.

Docent Volunteers give educational talks and act as tour guides for both children and adults at the Arboretum. They share their love and knowledge of the natural environment, heightening awareness of the need to conserve nature.

Steward Volunteers practice sustainable gardening, learn planting methods, perform proper pruning, and help conserve natural forests. They engage in hands-on activities to protect plants and restore native habitats.

Join a committee or attend meetings to help with various aspects of the park's development, including fundraising, publicity, social media, photography, events, construction, landscaping, and more. Volunteers are needed to contribute ideas and assist in creating an awesome dog park.

Assist in supervising and engaging children in various activities during the after-school program. Volunteers will help with homework, organize recreational activities, and ensure a safe environment for all participants.

Work and learn while restoring and maintaining Laurelwood’s gardens. Volunteers are needed from April through October, Tuesdays through Fridays and some Saturdays, from 9:00 AM to noon. Teenagers meet on Wednesdays from 9:00 AM to noon. Bring gloves, your favorite garden tools, and water.

During the winter months, help grow plants for the plant sale, garden restoration, special display gardens, and educational activities. This role is crucial for preparing the arboretum for the upcoming seasons.

Join the Roundtable Theater Company as a volunteer to help with various theater productions. Responsibilities may include assisting with set design, costume preparation, and backstage support during performances.
