Assist with the preservation and presentation of historical artifacts and exhibits at the Augusta History Museum. Volunteers may help with organizing events, guiding tours, and maintaining the museum's collections.
Augusta Fire Protection District
Work involves training for and participating in duties of protecting life and property through the performance of firefighting and emergency service activities. Volunteer firefighters are required to learn and participate in the operation of tools, apparatus and the performance of hazardous tasks under emergency conditions which may require strenuous exertion under such handicaps as smoke, fire, heat and cramped surroundings in all types of weather. Minimum participation is required to remain an active member. Although firefighting and emergency services work constitutes the primary and most difficult and responsible area of work, the volunteer is also required to attend training a minimum of 2 evenings per month. Meetings are held every Tuesday night. Training and work nights consist of practice sessions dealing with various aspects of firefighting, rescue, hazardous materials awareness, and emergency medical work. Work performance requires initiative and the exercise of independent judgment. Work is generally performed under the general supervision of a fire district officer. | Requirements: Firefighter candidates must: -reside or be employed within the fire district (Defiance, Augusta, Schluersburg) -be of sound physical condition -pass criminal background check -pass interview by membership committee -pass a 12 month probationary training period The firefighter drives or rides an emergency vehicle in response to fire, rescue and emergency medical events, hazardous materials response/mitigation and routine requests for help or assistance. In the performance of their duties, the firefighters set up equipment, lays and connects hose; operates high-capacity pumps and directs water streams; raises and climbs ladders; uses fire extinguishers, safety belts, lines and hooks and uses self-contained breathing apparatus. Work is hazardous and often requires physical exertion. The firefighter may enter burning buildings as part of a fire suppression team, perform ventilation tasks above ground, carry heavy objects and equipment and rescue injured or trapped victims. Individuals fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of a firefighter will at all times present themselves in a courteous, professional and responsible manner. | Categories: Firefighter, EMT

We need boat drivers with ski or tube pulling experience to assist in our adaptive water skiing events. Training on adapted water ski methods will be provided. Your boat must be registered with Lake St. Louis and have a valid LSL sticker.
