Provide transportation assistance to refugees and immigrants for various needs such as medical appointments, job interviews, or community events. Volunteers will help ensure access to essential services and opportunities.

Assist in organizing and distributing food and meals to refugee and immigrant families. Volunteers will help ensure that families have access to nutritious meals and support food security.

Create and update safety public service announcements (PSAs) to promote equine safety and awareness. Volunteers will work on content creation and distribution to educate the community.

Offer technical support and assistance to refugees and immigrants, helping them navigate technology for communication, education, and employment. Volunteers will provide guidance on using devices and software.

Support refugee and immigrant families by providing childcare services during meetings, classes, or other activities. Volunteers will ensure a safe and engaging environment for children.

Assist in planning and staffing events that support refugees and immigrants, such as community gatherings, cultural celebrations, and educational workshops. Volunteers will help organize and execute successful events.

Help collect, organize, and distribute clothing and household goods to refugees and immigrants in need. Volunteers will assist in managing donations and ensuring families have necessary supplies.

Support the Vermont Horse Council by helping organize and run events such as clinics, fairs, and rides. Volunteers will assist in various tasks to ensure successful and smooth events.

Assist refugees and immigrants in improving their English language skills through tutoring or conversational practice. Volunteers will work with individuals or small groups to enhance language proficiency and confidence.

Assist with trail maintenance, mapping, and expanding trail access to support the equine community in Vermont. Volunteers will work on various trail-related projects to ensure safe and accessible trails for all users.

We are currently accepting firefighter applications for our East Barre and South Barre fire stations. We are a paid/call fire department, meaning we operate like a volunteer fire department but offer an hourly pay for calls. As firefighters we perform a variety of duties including, but not limited to; fighting fire, driving trucks, directing traffic, working with SCBA (air packs), extricating patients from vehicles, and assisting our EMS department. | Requirements: Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and be in good health. Must have valid driver's license. No previous firefighting experience is required. We will train in house and encourage attendance at local and state fire schools. The Waitsfield-Fayston Fire Department is actively seeking volunteers to grow our department and give back to our community. On May 11, 2024, we will be hosting an open house from 10am-2pm where prospective volunteers can get a tour of the fire house and speak with active members of the department to learn what being a volunteer firefighter is all about. Our department trains twice a month (first two Wednesdays of the month). The Washington Fire Department and FAST Squad are looking for members to fill the roles of Firefighter or EMT. The all-volunteer department covers primary response to The Town of Washington and a portion of the Town of Orange, along with mutual aid responses to neighboring towns. The Department provides fire, emergency medical services, hazardous materials response, and rescue services. Emergency medical services are provided by the First Aid Stabilization Team (FAST) Squad with patient transport provided by Barre Town EMS or First Branch Ambulance (Chelsea). The Washington Fire Department averages 50 calls annually, and FAST Squad averages 125 responses. | Requirements: No previous firefighting or EMS experience is required. We will train in house but encourage members to become certified in Firefighter 1 or National EMT. Must be available for fire training and meetings on Wednesday nights at 7:00pm at the Washington Fire Station.
