Assist with landscaping tasks to maintain the beauty and tranquility of Green Lawn Cemetery. Volunteers will work on tasks such as mowing, trimming, and planting to ensure the cemetery remains a respectful and welcoming place for visitors.

Support event operations by managing the registration desk at cemetery events. Volunteers will greet attendees, manage sign-in sheets, and provide information about the event and the cemetery's history.

Contribute to the historical research and digital presence of Green Lawn Cemetery. Volunteers will assist with researching historical records and developing content for the cemetery's website to enhance public access to its history.

Assist with setting up and cleaning up for events held at Green Lawn Cemetery. Volunteers will help arrange seating, decorations, and other logistics before events, and ensure the area is tidy and restored after events conclude.

Participate in clearing and cleaning headstones to preserve the historical integrity of the cemetery. Volunteers will help remove debris and clean headstones to make inscriptions more visible and maintain the cemetery's historical significance.

Upon graduation, each certified canine therapy team is assigned a location to volunteer based on the dog's temperament and the handler's preferences. Volunteers work in schools, hospitals, and veteran facilities, providing support and companionship to those in need.

Provide temporary care and shelter for German Shepherds and Shepherd mixes in your home. Volunteers are responsible for the daily care, feeding, and socialization of the dogs until they are adopted.

Assist with general tasks around the shop, such as retrieving parts for customers, sweeping, and organizing. This role supports the smooth operation of the shop.

Participate in special projects such as shop improvements, preparing bikes for recycling, refurbishing bikes for the Free Bike Program, and organizing projects. These projects occur throughout the year.

Help at community events by providing information about UBP, conducting bike checkups, running bike valet parking, and setting up learning displays. Volunteers support various event needs.

Help customers shop for used bikes and enjoy the new-bike smiles on their faces. This includes answering questions about bike fit and helping customers choose between road bikes and mountain bikes. No prior knowledge is required.

Pick up bikes donated by individuals in New Castle County who cannot get to the shop themselves. Scheduling is flexible, and volunteers will arrange pickups with donors.

Greet everyone who enters the building and assist with tasks such as receiving donation drop offs and answering customer questions. No prior knowledge is required.

Mentor youth, lead rides, teach bicycle repair lessons, and participate in community service projects. No training in bicycle repair is required, just a desire to learn and help youth participants.

Assist customers with do-it-yourself repairs, providing instruction and guidance. This role requires mechanical knowledge and involves helping with various bike repair challenges.

Assist HFHK staff in training teachers in the garden and help build gardens as part of the Education Cultivation program. Volunteers can engage in team-building exercises while learning gardening tips.
