The Tiltonsville Volunteer Fire Department, founded in 1917 located in Southeastern Ohio at the southern part of Jefferson County is currently accepting applications for people who wish to become firefighters, EMT'S, and general support members for the fire department. Running out of one (1) station and answering over 500 Fire-Rescue-EMS calls, our current roster of members with an average age of (45) forty five continually strives for excellence in training and service to our residents. Not unlike any other volunteer fire department, our department experiences a shortage of manpower during daylight hours and in general a (50)) fifty person roster has been cut in half in the last (20) twenty years due to economics in the region. The Volunteer Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician (Volunteer FF/EMT) serves the community by responding to a wide variety of situations, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for information or assistance. They perform within the scope of the policies and procedures of Brilliant Volunteer Fire and EMS and they perform duties in the following general categories: fire suppression, emergency medical aid or rescue, hazardous material responses, training, building inspections and public education. The Volunteer FF/EMT works under the supervision of a company officer and is expected to function effectively as part of a highly trained team.
