Join us for a Volunteer Trail Work Day to help build and maintain the trail network. Open to all ages, no experience is necessary, and participants will receive guidance on trail work. Each session is capped at 20 participants and includes a celebration with pizza and seltzers at the end.

As a Volunteer Ambassador, you will assist in staffing the Dashney Nordic Center during the winter season, helping with XC ski and snowshoe rentals, and providing trail information. Volunteers are required to complete a minimum of 2 shifts during the winter and must provide their own bike and helmet for summer shifts.

Newark Volunteer Fire Department is always seeking new volunteers for firefighters, EMTs, and Auxiliary Members to support our operations and fundraising. We provide training and opportunities to obtain career certifications such as EMT and Firefighter I and II. We have one station, three apparatus, and 15 current members. Adoption counselors screen prospective adopters, fill out necessary paperwork, and finalize adoptions. They perform the same duties as adoption shift volunteers but with additional responsibilities.

Volunteers in the morning shift clean each cat’s cage, including food dishes, litter boxes, and bedding. They feed and medicate cats as instructed and monitor playtime, as well as perform general cleaning tasks such as laundry and floor cleaning.

Adoption shift volunteers open the shelter to the public, assist in matching adopters with cats, provide information on the adoption process, and monitor playtime. Good communication skills are needed.

Evening volunteers feed and medicate cats according to their needs, scoop litter boxes, and clean as necessary. They also monitor playtime, ensuring the cats are comfortable and cared for.

Assist in packing holiday care packages for troops in combat zones. Volunteers will help organize, pack, and prepare packages for shipment. This event is a community effort to support our military personnel overseas.
