Gardening volunteers assist in maintaining the sanctuary's vegetable and flower gardens. Tasks include planting, watering, weeding, and harvesting, contributing to the beauty and productivity of the gardens.

Volunteers with construction skills can help with small repairs and maintenance tasks at the sanctuary. This includes joining the biweekly maintenance crew or working on larger projects with the project coordinator.

Humane Education Volunteers assist with preparing and setting up programs for humane education. This role involves cleaning, organizing program areas, and spending time with Heartland’s rescued farm animals, but does not involve working directly with kids.

Groundskeeping volunteers work outdoors to help maintain the sanctuary's beautiful property. Duties include mowing, weed-whacking, and maintaining animal pastures, ensuring a safe environment for both animals and visitors.

Animal care volunteers help take care of the resident animals, which include 13 species. Responsibilities include feeding, watering, mucking stalls, and interacting with the animals. Shifts are available in the morning and evening.

Assist with various tasks related to animal care and rescue, including fostering animals, helping at events, and supporting administrative tasks. Volunteers play a crucial role in the organization's mission to rescue and care for animals.

Assist with various community outreach programs such as educational seminars, workshops, and events. Volunteers will help with setup, coordination, and interacting with the public to promote responsible dog ownership.

Help instructors during dog training classes by setting up equipment, assisting with demonstrations, and providing support to class participants. This role is ideal for those who love working with dogs and have an interest in training.

Support the organization during various events such as dog shows, obedience trials, and community parades. Responsibilities include event setup, registration, and assisting participants and attendees.
