A two year program designed for individuals who are interested in a career in Fire or EMS. Residents live for free at one of our seven fire stations, receive at a minimum their NREMT, Wildland Red Card, and IFSAC FFI certification, and respond as front line firefighters on emergency calls. The residents shifts are on a rotating night and weekend basis, which encourages the resident to have a job or go to school at the nearby University. During this opportunity, volunteers pack nutritious food into boxes to be sent to Montanans experiencing hunger in rural areas. This project can be done solo or in groups of 7 or fewer, and requires attention to detail, lifting 30-pound boxes, bending, and walking. Children over 6 are welcome with adult supervision.

Volunteers help repack food purchased in bulk into smaller family-sized portions for Network Partners, which are food banks and hunger-relief organizations across Montana. This opportunity can be done solo or in groups of 13 or fewer, and children over 6 are welcome with adult supervision.

Provide emotional and spiritual support to disaster-affected individuals. Must be a certified chaplain or recognized faith leader. Commitment is flexible based on interest and response needs.

Help recognize heroes by managing nominations for Lifesaving Awards, coordinating award presentations, and ensuring awards are printed and framed. Experience in event planning is preferred. Time commitment is variable, typically twice a year.

Organize and execute engaging events for the sober community and fellows. This role is essential in fostering a sense of community and support among participants.

The HOT program works to identify barriers to housing/services for Missoula's chronically homeless individuals, while simultaneously supporting and educating downtown businesses and community members. Volunteers go out with staff members on the streets to do direct outreach and build relationships with people living outside. This involves interacting with clients and community members in a respectful way and providing them with needed resources, information and supplies. Homeless Outreach Team goes out with volunteers Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 am to 1pm

Volunteers aid staff, other volunteers, and clients in creating dishes for the Poverello’s hot meals: lunch and dinner. Depending on what is needed for the day the shift can range from washing, dicing, and preparing food to organizing.

Volunteers help staff in offering those services such as sorting and handing out mail, handing out sack lunches and water, directing guests to where they can get personal hygiene and cleaning products, answering phone calls, and assisting guests making phone calls.

Volunteers serve hot meals that are already prepared by other volunteers, staff, and guests in our industrial kitchen. Any community member may receive a hot meal; there is no proof of income required. We currently need lunch servers from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and dinner servers from 5:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Monday - Sunday.
