Looking for a way to give back to your community while learning new skills? We are always recruiting for new Fire and EMS personnel, no experience is required! After completing initial requirements, the company funds training opportunities in fire, ems, and rescue disciplines for our volunteer members. Our company also maintains a cadet and junior firefighter program that allows children 14-18 the ability to learn fire and emergency services operations that will prepare them for future service within the company. After completing initial training, cadet and junior members also have the opportunity to attend EMR and EMT training as well as participate in all company trainings within the guidelines set forth by the State of Connecticut. We have positions available as fire police members that assist in securing scenes and providing traffic support, apparatus operators, and administrative positions in membership/recruiting, fundraising, and other company functions. Laurel Hill Volunteer Fire Company
Laurel Hill Volunteer Fire Department is looking for enthusiastic additions to our fire department. We are one of 5 volunteer departments in the City of Norwich. We offer training and schooling opportunity in the fire, medical, and traffic control fields. Laurel Hill is home of 3 specialty pieces of apparatus for the city. We respond to wildland fires with our Utility Terrain Vehicle (UTV), and are part of the tanker task force with our Hose Tender 6 and new 2020 Engine Tanker 61. Other calls and responses include fires, medical calls, motor vehicle accidents, and service calls such as basement flooding or downed trees and electrical wiring. Laurel Hill pays for training for all schooling after a 6 month to a year probationary time. Norwich residents will also receive a tax credit of 1000 dollars, if you make 20% of training, 20% of calls and 20% of meetings. We train weekly on Tuesday nights at 6 pm, and some Saturdays for probationary members. If you are interested in joining our fire department please stop by the station and fill out an application. Volunteer firefighters at the Goshen Fire Department respond to various emergencies including fire, rescue, marine, medical and so many other types of emergencies. Our volunteers staff two Class A pumpers, a 24' Fire Boat, a 14' rigid hull inflatable rescue boat, a UTV, and two service trucks. Firefighters are provided with all training to become certified Firefighters, EMTs, and more. Once certified, firefighters are eligible to receive as stipend for each call they respond to as part of the paid-per-call system in the Town of Waterford.
