A Firefighter with the Gregory Volunteer Fire Department will benefit from free training, community involvement, discipline, and pride. Prospective applicants must attend three consecutive Thursday Night trainings to be eligible to be voted in by the general membership. At that point, you will become a probationary firefighter. The probationary tenure is 6 months, at which point the applicants behavior, attendance, ability, and willingness to learn will be evaluated. The general membership will then vote to extend probation, or accept applicant as a full voting member of the Department. Members are outfitted with PPE for wildland and structural firefighting. The PPE is owned and maintained by the GVFD. | Requirements: Applicants must be in relative good health and understand that Firefighting, whether paid or volunteer, is an inherently dangerous activity. Applicants should be able to carry up to 70 on their back for a sustained duration of time. Applicants should not be claustrophobic. The following requirements will be met before an applicant can be voted in as a probationary firefighter: 1. Must be 18 years of age or older 2. Must pass a criminal background check and have no felony or Class B-A misdemeanor convictions (a conviction will not necessarily bar the applicant from joining). 3. Posses a Class C Texas Driver License (Class B exempt preferred) 4. Texas EMT-B or higher is preferred; however, not required. 5. Dive volunteers maintain exhibits and assist with programming. Volunteers must be Open Water dive certified, have a doctor's clearance, and pass a check-out dive. They receive credit for bottom time and volunteer hours.

Education volunteers support outreach programs and special projects, involving both indoor and outdoor activities. They help in delivering educational content and engaging with the community.

Naturalists serve as volunteer guides, sharing their knowledge of the Aquarium's animals and habitats with guests. Volunteers need to work a 3-hour shift once a week and bring enthusiasm to the role. Training is provided for this high public interaction position.

Guest Ambassadors welcome guests, assist with directions, conduct surveys, and interact with guests using BioFact carts. This role requires high public interaction to ensure guest satisfaction.

The Fundraiser Coordinator will be responsible for finding and researching potential fundraising opportunities. They will coordinate with the board of directors for approval and manage volunteers and advertising efforts.

Promote the organization and its events through social media and person-to-person interactions. Volunteers help increase public awareness and share event flyers and animal announcements to aid in adoptions.

Transport animals to medical appointments and adoption events. Volunteers with availability during the week are needed to assist with transportation, including using larger vehicles for fundraising events.

Assist with adoption events by helping set up crates, bringing in animals from transportation vehicles, and answering questions from potential adopters. Volunteers may also walk dogs, refill water bowls, and clean kennels as needed.

Provide grooming services such as baths and nail trims to rescued animals, helping them look and feel their best for potential adopters. Volunteers assist in grooming animals rescued from the streets.

Help plan fundraising events to raise funds for the care of rescued animals. Volunteers with experience in event planning are encouraged to join the team to organize events benefiting cats and dogs.

The Event Coordinator finds events for the rescue to attend, coordinates with the Vice President, recruits volunteers, and manages event logistics. They ensure events are feasible and well-staffed.

Application Processors review applications, work with the Application Coordinator, call references, and report findings. They ensure all applications are thoroughly vetted and processed efficiently.
