The Volunteer Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician (Volunteer FF/EMT) serves the community by responding to a wide variety of situations, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for information or assistance. They perform within the scope of the policies and procedures of Keel Mountain Volunteer Fire & Rescue and they perform duties in the following general categories: fire suppression, emergency medical aid or rescue, hazardous material responses, training, building inspections and public education. The Volunteer FF/EMT normally works under the supervision of a company officer and is expected to function effectively as part of a highly trained team. They are also expected to perform their duties under adverse conditions and physical conditions that may pose a high risk of personal injury or exposure to hazardous conditions or infectious diseases. The Volunteer FF/EMT is required to attend regularly scheduled training in order to maintain the high level of knowledge, skill and ability necessary to function safely and effectively as a firefighter and EMS provider in accordance with state law, county protocols, and standard operating procedures. | Requirements: - Be of 18 years of age, or older, and reside within the Keel Mountain Volunteer Fire Department (KMVFD) district - Come to a monthly membership meeting and express interest in becoming a firefighter - Complete and return a KMVFD membership application - Pass a background check - Be accepted by a majority vote of active KMVFD voting members | Categories: Community Education, Firefighter, EMT

Killingsworth Cove is a 100% Volunteer organization dedicated to the preservation of Life and Property with Fire, EMS, and Rescue Services. We serve a remote community in the heart of the Tennessee Valley of about 2400 people. We run about 130 calls per year. We have 6 apparatus, 2 engines, 2 wildland brush trucks, and 2 medical response vehicles. We have mutual aid agreements with Gurley VFD, Central VFD, New Market VFD, Keel Mountain VFD, and Jackson County. | Requirements: Must be 18 years old to be an active member. Must be able to pass a background check that is free of felonies and arson convictions. All prior training recognized and any training needed will be provided.
