Williston Fire Dept

645 Talcott Rd, Williston, VT (7.8mi)

Skills:

Skilled Craft or Trade, Healthcare/Medical, Interpersonal

Causes:

Disaster Relief, Poverty, Veterans & Military Families

The Williston Fire Department is currently accepting call staff applications for review in Spring 2022. .One of the worst days a person can have in their life is when they have to call 9-1-1. And yet one of the most fulfilling moments in a person’s life is when they help another in desperate need, especially during an emergency. The Williston Fire Department answers those calls every day with both full-time career and part-time call Fire/EMS staff. For us to better serve our community, we need to build our team with more call staff members. Call staff lead normal daily lives outside of the Department but are available to respond to emergencies on an as-needed basis or come to the station for shifts on a regular basis. The Fire Department provides training on a schedule that supports members’ busy lifestyles and personal responsibilities. Members have no personal costs, as all equipment and training is paid for by the Department, and they receive an hourly wage when they attend Department training or respond to emergency calls. No prior training or experience is required although we do encourage individuals with Fire/EMS certification to apply and we do allow dual membership with other Departments while serving with WFD. If you are the type of person that wants to experience that most fulfilling moment of helping a neighbor, if you wish to be part of a team that will treat you like family, and do all of this within your own community, please review the information below and consider submitting an application. We look forward to hearing from you! | Requirements: Be at least 18 years of age. Attend our training events that are scheduled every other Monday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Complete the Williston Fire Department's orientation program. If you have no prior experience, you must begin a Firefighter Level One class within one year of joining the Department. There is no cost for the class, and the Department will provide all gear and equipment needed. Firefighters are exempt from Department training for the duration of the class. | Categories: EMT, Firefighter

Skills:

Skilled Craft or Trade, Healthcare/Medical, Interpersonal

Disaster Relief, Poverty, Veterans & Military Families

Join your neighbors in being part of something bigger, and make a connection with your community. We respond to nearly 300 emergencies each year. The Shelburne Fire Department is a professional 100% volunteer organization. We provide essential services to our community including fire suppression, heavy rescue, marine rescue, and hazardous material control, amoung countless other incidents. Joining the department starts with an application. After applying, you’ll undergo an interview, which is also an opportunity to ask questions. At the first Department meeting after the interview, applicants are presented to members, and a one-month waiting period begins. During that time, you’re welcome to attend training and begin meeting members. At the next monthly meeting, your application will be voted on and, if approved, a six-month probationary period begins (though timing varies). At the end of the probationary period, another vote is taken for a status change to full membership. | Requirements: No experience is needed to join the Department. You must possess a positive, "team-player" attitude and be up for a challenge. This is an opportunity to grow as a person! Department training: Held every Thursday from 6:30 to 9:00 pm (except the first Thursday of the month which is reserved for the monthly business meeting). The Shelburne Fire Department provides further training at no cost to the member. Examples include: The Chittenden County Basic Firefighting Course. Firefighter Level I: A modular, State course given at various locations. This course covers all aspects of firefighting and leads to a nationally-recognized certification. There are countless other training opportunities offered by the department! For those who work unusual hours, special arrangements may be made for training. A mentor will be assigned to help you feel welcome and to assist you in training. Commitment: CALLS: It is impossible for every member to make every call. You are required to make a minimum of 10% of all calls. TRAINING: Certain skills must be practiced on a regular basis to meet Federal, State, and Shelburne Fire Department requirements. It is expected that members will attend a minimum of 50% of all trainings. | Categories: Firefighter
