Volunteers assist with diverse recreational activities for residents, including physical, social, intellectual, sensory, spiritual, creative, and community-oriented activities. Activities are available 7 days a week, including evenings.

Volunteers provide spiritual support through weekly religious services, Bible study classes, individual counseling, and hospice visits. Services are available for Jewish, Catholic, Protestant, and non-denominational faiths.

Volunteers support the Recreation Department by organizing and participating in social activities, outings, and special events for residents. They also help with the distribution of donations and materials to enhance resident experiences.

The 40+ hour Confidential Sexual Violence Advocate training prepares you to provide in-person support to survivors of sexual violence at police stations, hospitals, and courts in Middlesex County. Learn about trauma, crisis intervention, advocacy skills, community resources, and more. No experience is needed, and anyone 18 years or older is invited to apply.

Serve the community by responding to calls for assistance including, but not limited to structure & vehicle fires, motor vehicle accidents, alarm activations, various types of rescues, natural disasters and more. Qualified individuals will be trained to drive fire apparatus and given consideration to become a leader as a firematic officer in the department. Training is offered at no cost to every member. Also included is assisting fire prevention with presentations and community outreach events. Hard work is not all that being a volunteer involves. There are community orientated events where you can interact with the public whom you serve. Not to mention social activities where you will make lifelong friends with your new coworkers. While no career positions are currently available, many past members have used the knowledge they achieved to attain a career in the fire service. | Requirements: Applicants must be at least 18 years old and no more than 45 years old, preferably living in the 5th Fire District (Avenel, parts of Colonia, Iselin & Woodbridge) but consideration is given to all Woodbridge Township residents and those living in parts of Carteret and Rahway. Applicants should not apply if you do not live in the areas listed . Applicants should be in good physical health, be able to pass a background check, and have reliable transportation. Interested applicants must complete a questionnaire and provide a copy of a valid NJ driver's license, followed by a back ground check and drug screen. Once successfully completing those checks, a meeting is held with an investigating committee followed by a physical exam required by the New Jersey Firemen's Association. The entire process takes approximately 3-4 months to complete. Upon swearing in members must complete in house training followed by an approved Firefighter 1 program at a certified training academy (Approx. 270 hours). All members must maintain a 50% attendance record at all alarms as well as attend twice a month training, monthly meetings, fund drive and required committee tasks. | Categories: Firefighter

Literacy New Jersey needs volunteers to work as tutors, helping adults with reading, writing, speaking English, and math. Volunteers will receive 15 hours of training and will be matched with a student whose learning needs fit their abilities.

Volunteers are needed to assist patients through various therapies including massage, pet therapy, Reiki, music therapy, and art therapy. Specialized training is appreciated, and volunteers can also provide companionship and support to families.

The volunteers of Woodbridge Fire Department have been serving the residents of the Woodbridge and Sewaren sections of Woodbridge Township since 1897. We are looking for dedicated, motivated individuals that want to serve their community in a vitally important way. Organize a suit drive with your family or friends to collect women’s professional attire. A representative from Dress for Success can assist with kickoff speeches and guidance.

Represent Dress for Success at special events by speaking and engaging with supporters and the public. Your presence will help raise awareness and support for our mission.

Assist in transporting cats to and from adoption events, veterinary appointments, and foster homes. Volunteers must have a valid driver's license and be comfortable handling cats.

Host a networking event or workshop at your company to help Dress for Success clients connect and learn from employees. This is a great opportunity to give back to the community.

Join our team to assist with media research and outreach support. If you have a knack for communication and public relations, we would love to connect with you to help promote our mission.

Provide temporary homes for cats awaiting adoption. Fosters care for the animals in their own homes, providing love and basic care until they are adopted.

Help run adoption events by setting up, interacting with potential adopters, and providing information about the cats available for adoption. Volunteers should be friendly and enjoy working with the public.
