Help open the adoption room to the public, assist with the application process, and ensure the safety of animals and visitors. Counsel potential adopters on making ideal matches with pets.

Assist with feeding, cleaning, and monitoring the health and well-being of cats at the adoption center. Volunteers are responsible for cleaning cages, litter pans, and changing bedding, as well as providing fresh food and water.

Transport pets to and from vet appointments or adoption events. This role supports foster families who may not be available to transport their pets during adoption hours.

Provide temporary homes for cats and kittens until permanent homes are found. Fostering is critical to the rescue's success and involves caring for animals that may have health or behavioral issues.

Participate in organizing and running fundraising events to support local homeless animals. Tasks include data entry, public relations, event planning, and graphic design.

East Petersburg Fire Volunteer Fire Company was established in 1910. The history of the East Petersburg Volunteer Fire Company #1 dates back to 1909. The town was threatened by a fire which had started in a residence located near the center of town. Had it not been for the heroic efforts of the citizens of the town, both property and life would have been lost. This prompted the idea of organizing a Fire Company. Meetings were held in the public school house and an thus East Petersburg Fire Company #1 was born. On January 22, 1910, the Company was granted a charter by the state and from that date the business of the Company was operated according to the charter. Station 23 has remained a 100% volunteer station. Our members drop everything when the tones drop and prepare to protect serve their community. The dynamic of our station has continued to grow as we gain more members. Horse Duty volunteers complete morning and evening horse care tasks and barn chores weekly. These tasks include feeding and watering all the farm animals, grooming horses, mucking out stalls and pastures, and other general barn upkeep tasks.

General Farm Volunteers assist with various tasks such as gardening, photography, and occasional farm work. These opportunities are available on a more irregular basis.

Administrative members provide the fire company with the skills required to run the 'business' side of the fire company. Administrative members can be firefighters as well. Being an administrative member requires knowledge in business and financial management, budget preparation, personnel management, and many other areas.
