Chelan County Fire Protection District #3 was established to provide fire protection services to the rural community surrounding the City of Leavenworth. In 2012 the fire district, by a vote of the community, annexed Leavenworth deleting those fire protection borders. Today Fire District #3 is a combination fire department responsible for protecting almost 30 square miles and over a billion dollars in assets. Volunteers play a crucial role in our organization by providing socialization to our dogs and assisting with their care. Responsibilities include playing with puppies and dogs in training, cleaning and maintaining the grounds and facilities, and washing, feeding, and watering the dogs.

Volunteers are needed to assist with cleaning stalls and paddocks, preparing hay and grain, washing and filling water buckets, and grooming and walking minis for those with horse experience. This role is vital in maintaining the well-being of the horses at the sanctuary.
