The Volunteer Firefighter serves the community by responding to a wide variety of situations, ranging from emergencies that immediately threaten life or property to routine citizen requests for information or assistance. They perform within the scope of the policies and procedures of the Community Fire Company and the Forks Township Fire Department and they perform duties in the following general categories: fire suppression, rescue or emergency medical aid, hazardous material responses, training, building inspections and public education. The Volunteer FF normally works under the supervision of a department officer and is expected to function effectively as part of a highly trained team. Our department is looking for motivated individuals who are looking for a challenge and want to help their community. We serve a municipality of about 15 square miles and respond to close to 900 calls for service each year. Our township is ,considerably, still growing with multiple shopping centers and mixed residential developments. All training is paid for 100% with no financial commitments from you. As an apprentice firefighter you will learn what you need to know starting with the basics while preparing to to obtain firefighter 1 certification. All training is hands on skills.
