Volunteers help care for the animals by feeding, cleaning, and grooming them. They also assist with sanctuary tasks such as mowing, trimming, and fencing around the farm, as well as administrative tasks like filing and data entry.

Facility volunteers help keep our farm in good condition to run our programs successfully! Duties include weeding, painting, and executing special projects on the farm. This opportunity is also open to school and community groups, and volunteers must be at least 14 years of age.

We need volunteers to help organize and execute fundraising events, community outreach, and more. This is a great opportunity for those who want to get involved but may not want to work directly with our horses, as well as those with scheduling challenges that make a weekly commitment difficult.

Barn volunteers keep Great and Small running smoothly and looking fabulous. Duties may include mucking stalls, scrubbing water buckets, cleaning tack, sweeping, and raking. Barn volunteers must be at least 14 years of age.

Program volunteers are a vital part of the therapy team. They prepare the horse for the lesson, assist the instructor in the lesson by leading the horse or sidewalking with the rider, and care for the horse after the lesson concludes. All program volunteers must be at least 14 years of age and must participate in a volunteer training session.

Assist with the administrative tasks of the organization, including data entry, marketing, website management, volunteer management, event planning, fundraising, and grant writing. Volunteers with skills in these areas are encouraged to apply.

Lead trail rides for EPIC, guiding participants through the trails and ensuring a safe and enjoyable experience. Volunteers should be familiar with the trails and comfortable managing groups of riders.

Assist EPIC in maintaining trails to ensure they are safe and accessible for equestrian use. Volunteers may be involved in clearing paths, repairing trail markers, and general upkeep of the trail system.

Assist with the treatment and reconditioning of injured birds of prey, participate in renesting and release efforts, and help with cleaning and laundry tasks. Volunteers also support transportation and administrative tasks as needed.

Provide clerical support to EPIC by assisting with administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and organizing documents. This role supports the smooth operation of EPIC's activities and events.

Volunteers are needed for the Annual 5KK race, the largest fundraiser of the year. Responsibilities include assisting with parking, race morning registration, water station management, cheering for runners, and course setup and cleanup.

Established in 1966, the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company has proudly served our community for 48 years. More than 180 dedicated volunteers answer the call 365 days a year. Oh, did I forget to mention we are volunteers? That’s right! We come from all walks of life; electricians, doctors, lawyers, teachers, IT engineers, bankers, stay-at-home moms…we come from everywhere! We are you! And like you, we all have regular lives, but one night a week; we give back to our community by answering the call. Do you have what it takes to “Answer The Call”? In 2014, the Sterling Volunteer Fire Company responded to over 4,100 emergencies. That’s more than 11 calls per day! With the addition of our newest station, the Kincora Safety Center (Station 24), we now staff three fire stations in the Sterling community, every night! Provide critical emergency services to the citizens and visitors of Sterling, VA. We answer more than 3000 emergency calls each year in the Sterling area covered by our three fire stations. There are high expectations of performance for all members. As a volunteer with SVFC, you will be provided with all the training you need to function at the highest capacity, whether you volunteer as an operational firefighter or associate member. | Requirements: Willingness to serve your community!! Volunteers are responsible for creating uplifting cards and notes for individuals in need. Cards can be homemade or store-bought, filled with handmade messages, and must adhere to specific guidelines provided by A Bright Spot.

Coordinate the preparation and distribution of Community Care Boxes filled with cards and notes to organizations and individuals in need. This role involves organizing shipments and liaising with partner organizations.

Volunteers are an integral part of the HealthWorks team. We ask volunteers to commit to volunteer three times a month for at least six months. All volunteers are required to have a background check, TB test, flu shot, and up-to-date immunizations.

Volunteers support UCR members, staff, and professionals at various programs and events in upper Montgomery County. Responsibilities include engaging with members, assisting staff, and encouraging member participation. Volunteers must follow UCR's guidelines and complete a registration form before starting.

Join ECHO Helping Hands to enrich the lives of adults with disabilities by engaging in daily activities and socializing with participants. Volunteers must be 18 years or older, attend an orientation/training session, and complete a background check.

Drivers are needed on Thursdays to deliver food packages to vulnerable families who lack transportation. Delivery is contactless, and addresses are provided on delivery day.
