Assist with egg care, spawning activities, and fin clipping at Green Lake Hatchery. Volunteers are required to commit to at least 4 hours and will receive appropriate training.

Man the Visitor’s Center desk, conduct hatchery tours, develop nature walks, and assist with outreach events. Volunteers must commit to at least 4 hours and will be provided with training.

Help inspect boats at the East Orland Boat Landing to ensure they are free of invasive species before entering Toddy Pond. Volunteers will educate boaters on best practices for preventing the spread of invasive species.

Assist in patrolling Toddy Pond for invasive plant species to help maintain the ecological balance of the pond. Volunteers will be trained to identify and report invasive species to prevent their spread.

Assist in the distribution of food to individuals and families in need during scheduled distribution days. Volunteers may also help with organizing and preparing food items for distribution.

Contribute articles and stories to the Bayside Historical Preservation Society's newsletter. Writers help keep the community informed and engaged with the society's activities and historical insights.

Assist in staffing the Shady Grove Museum during its Sunday summer hours, welcoming visitors and providing information about the exhibits. Volunteers play a crucial role in enhancing the visitor experience.

Help maintain and update the archives, databases, and collections of the Bayside Historical Preservation Society. Volunteers assist in organizing and preserving historical documents and artifacts.

Assist in cataloging Bayside Memorabilia using the Virtual Archive program. Volunteers help scan postcards and other paper objects, making the collection accessible electronically.

Help make a difference by volunteering with Miracle German Shepherd Dog Rescue of Maine. Volunteers are needed to assist with various tasks to support the rescue and care of German Shepherd Dogs.

Update and manage the Bayside Historical Preservation Society's website. Volunteers ensure the website is current and accessible, providing valuable information to the community and visitors.

Participate in interviewing or transcribing for the Oral History Project. Volunteers help capture and preserve personal stories and histories from the Bayside community.

Orrington Fire & Rescue serves a town of 3,700 people and assists five other towns with mutual aid. This department is a combination of full-time staff with paid-on-call volunteer members who provide high-quality fire suppression and transporting emergency medical services. Opportunities for full-time employment are offered to qualified applicants. Orrington Fire & Rescue operates out of a recently constructed fire station with new equipment. This department provides uniforms, a pager, electronic scheduling & mobile paging services, competitive compensation, and the opportunity to work shifts once trained. Work includes: -Direct participation and continual training in firefighting and emergency medical work. -Fire protection & inspection. -Equipment operation. -Routine maintenance of equipment apparatus and fire stations and grounds. | Requirements: Nothing is required to start! Orrington Fire & Rescue is looking for members of the local community who desire to step out of their comfort zone and want to support their neighbors. When joining this department, it would be required to attend weekly training on Wednesday nights and a local 2-week fire academy at a minimum. All training is paid, and further advanced medical and fire training is offered.
