Established in 1929, the South Houston Volunteer Fire Department has a rich history of community service. Volunteer members contribute hundreds of hours annually to provide fire protection to the citizens of South Houston. Calls for service include vehicle extrication and rescue, vehicle fires, and hazardous materials responses. Lead public and private tours of the Garden’s living collections for visitors and school groups. This role requires a passion for nature and plants, as well as comfort speaking to diverse audiences. Commitment will coincide with the Garden’s tour schedule.

Volunteers are needed who are passionate about community and the arts. Responsibilities include participating in arts programs, assisting with events, and supporting community engagement activities. Volunteers will be interviewed and trained to ensure a satisfying experience.

As an Animal Care Volunteer, you will assist in daily tasks such as letting dogs out, feeding animals, cleaning their living spaces, and doing laundry. Volunteers are encouraged to stay and engage with the animals after completing their duties.

Almighty Ministries Inc is committed to inspiring youth in underserved communities to aspire towards excellence in education. Many times this desire to excel is hindered by a lack of school supplies. We are asking for your help in meeting this need. Donations of school supplies and cash are accepted every Thursday starting May 29th, from 3:00 - 6:00 pm at the Youth Going Green Community Garden.

Share your knowledge and experience with our neighbors by leading a conversation or activity for women or teens. Topics can include personal testimony, budgeting, self-defense, cooking, and more.

Provide safe and reliable childcare for parents attending programs. Volunteers are asked to commit at least twice a month to help parents feel secure while they engage in community leadership programs.

Help make the Annual Women's Gala a successful event by assisting with setup, serving, or cleanup. This event celebrates the Women's Ministry and the achievements of the past year, and volunteers are welcome to bring spouses and significant others.

Assist K-5th grade children enrolled in Backyard Bible Club with homework, chapel, and other activities. Volunteers are asked to commit to attending weekly to build relationships with staff and children.
