The South Portland Fire Department is a progressive ISO Class 1 combination department (staffed both with full time and on call members). We currently have a need for additional Call Firefighters for our two Call Stations. One is the Willard Engine and Ladder Company on Pillsbury Street and the other is the Thornton Heights Engine Company on Union Street. Call Firefighters supplement the on duty crews at large events such as structure fires, hazmat incidents, vehicle extricating, specialized rescues or during large storms. | Requirements: All training required is provided but any previous experience is desired. Must be 18 years old, have a valid Maine drivers license with no significant traffic history or any criminal convictions and have a Diploma or GED. Must complete the Maine BLS Basic Firefighter Course in 12 months.
