Volunteer Firefighter is an entry level position and reports to the elected officers of the Fire Department as well as the Board of Fire Commissioners. This position attends trainings and meeting as well as responds to emergencies including but not limited to: Fire, EMS calls, motor vehicle accidents. Assist community members by repairing various household items at the Esopus Repair Cafe. Volunteers with skills in repair and maintenance are encouraged to join.

Volunteer packers are responsible for preparing and packing meals for delivery. Packers work from 9 AM to 11 AM, one day a week, and ensure that meals are correctly packed and ready for distribution.

Volunteer drivers are needed to deliver meals to residents in the Hyde Park area. Drivers work from 11 AM to 1 PM, one day a week, and are responsible for ensuring timely and friendly delivery of meals to clients.

Assist in obtaining food by helping with computer-based ordering from the Regional Food Bank and shopping for necessary items at local grocery stores. This position requires a commitment of 1.5 hours twice a month, with no heavy lifting involved.

Help with packing and delivering food bags to shut-in and transient neighbors. This role involves preparing bags prior to delivery and may require driving to deliver food. A commitment of up to 3 hours per week is expected.

Assist with food distribution on Fridays by helping with set-up, registration, and intake. Volunteers will help load tables with fresh produce and assist neighbors in selecting food options. A commitment of 3 to 4 hours is required each week, and the ability to lift up to 40 lbs. is necessary for some positions.

Volunteers will serve as docents, guiding visitors through the historic sites within the Hudson River National Historic Landmark District. Responsibilities include providing information about the history and significance of the sites and assisting with visitor inquiries.

Join our Director of Horticulture and Interpretation for regular volunteer gardening hours on Tuesday and Saturday mornings from April through November. Volunteers help with various gardening tasks and can also assist in growing plants for our sale collection in the historic FDR greenhouses, with no prior experience required.

Help welcome and inspire visitors as a Garden Interpreter by sharing the story and beauty of the garden. Volunteers will answer questions, provide context, and help visitors feel at home in the garden.

Provide essential services for the home itself, such as cleaning and repairs, helping with mailings or other office/administrative tasks, gardening, cooking light meals, and volunteer coordination.
