Our department accepts applications year round for volunteer Firefighters. A Recruit can join the department without any previous experience or training. Training towards the initial Kentucky 150 Volunteer Firefighter certification will be provided through our department to those who are not certified when they join as well as on going training hours for those who reach 150 certification requirements. American Heart Association First Aid and CPR are taught to Recruits. Members of our department are not required to be certified EMT’s. Once released to make runs our members respond to structure fires, automobile accidents, medical calls and many other incidents as needed when dispatched by our 911 center. Our department also serves our surrounding community and City quite often for community functions and events. | Requirements: Along with attendance and other departmental requirements for Recruit the Commonwealth of Kentucky requires the following criteria to serve as a Volunteer Firefighter in Kentucky: (1) Able to read, write, and understand the English language based on educational attainment or experience; (2) Not in violation, and has not been in violation within the last five (5) years, of driving under the influence or public intoxication; (3) Not convicted of a felony offense; (4) A citizen of the United States, a permanent resident of the United States, or otherwise lawfully present in the United States, as evidenced by submission to the Kentucky Fire Commission of a driver's license, birth certificate, a United States Permanent Resident Card (form I-551), or other legal authorization to live and work in the United States; and (5) Eighteen (18) years of age or older, as evidenced by submission to the Kentucky Fire Commission of proof of age in the form of a driver's license, birth certificate, or other government-issued identification card. | Categories: Firefighter, EMT

Join our team of volunteers to provide daily care and attention for our mares, assist with regular health monitoring, and help with facility maintenance and improvements. Volunteers also support community education and awareness initiatives, as well as our adoption program.

As an Outdoor Adventure Guide, volunteers will lead youth on various outdoor activities such as backpacking, kayaking, and fishing. Volunteers will help provide equipment, transportation, and guidance, ensuring a safe and enriching experience for all participants.

Assist with museum operations, including guiding tours, helping with events, and supporting educational programs. Volunteers will engage with visitors to enhance their experience at the museum.

Volunteers can become members of the Animal Care Team after showing commitment to the cause. In Kentucky, volunteers must be licensed rehabilitators to have direct contact with wildlife. In Indiana, volunteers will undergo training and may be listed as an 'Assistant' on the organization's license.

This is a low commitment opportunity where volunteers provide a location for native wildlife to be released. No animal contact is required, but volunteers need a valid license or proof of address.

Volunteers are needed to help with events, maintain the landscape, and organize the storage room. You can volunteer every Sunday or just a few hours throughout the season.

As a 988 Volunteer, you will answer calls from Central Kentuckians in crisis, providing support and directing them to necessary resources. This role requires a commitment of at least 8 hours per week and a minimum of 9 months of service, along with completion of online training.

As a Foster Care Volunteer, you will provide a temporary home for Dobermans in need, helping them adjust to a loving environment until they can be adopted. This role is crucial for the rehabilitation and socialization of the dogs.

As an Event Coordinator Volunteer, you will help plan, coordinate, and set up events and pet fairs to promote the rescue and find homes for Dobermans. Your organizational skills will help ensure successful events.

As a Cookie Volunteer, you will coordinate the annual cookie sale at the troop level, set up cookie booths, manage inventory and money, and celebrate the girls' achievements as they earn rewards for their sales efforts. This role is perfect for those who enjoy working with children and managing events.

Join our Camp Program Team to help girls explore nature and develop their leadership skills. You will assist in outdoor programming and help girls become stewards of the environment while having fun in the great outdoors.

As a Troop Leader or Co-Leader, you will work with a group of girls to mentor them as they make new friends and develop connections that will last a lifetime. No special training is required, just a passion for helping others and guiding young girls.

Assist in collecting and organizing donated materials for arts, crafts, and upcycle projects. Volunteers will help ensure that materials are in new or usable condition and ready for community use.

Assist at events and fundraisers, typically lasting 2-4 hours, to help adoptable dogs find new homes in the Lexington area.

Sign up to take adoptable dogs living in boarding facilities out for a few hours to give them a break from their kennels.

Volunteers are needed to transport dogs from shelters to foster homes, vet appointments, or adoption events.

Work with an adoptable dog's foster family to promote the dog to potential adopters via social media and public outings.

Assist in introducing an adoptable dog to an approved adopter’s pet(s), facilitating the adoption process.
