Backstage crew members help move sets on and off stage, open and close the curtain, assist actors with props, and handle other show-related needs. This is a fast-paced, high-energy volunteer experience.

The West Friendship Volunteer Fire Department is in need of volunteers to become firefighters and EMT's. This department is progressive and can offer help to obtain commercial drivers licenses for those wishing to drive fire apparatus. Help also is available to further EMS education past EMT to become a paramedic. Volunteering at West Friendship will also allow for in county tuition for an Associate of Applied Sciences in Fire Science at Howard Community College for those who qualify. The Lisbon Volunteer Fire Department is currently seeking individuals who want to serve in our community as volunteer Firefighters and Emergency Medical Responders. Many people volunteer for different reasons. Some people join for the action, they enjoy the excitement and adrenaline rush that EMS offers. Some feel that helping people in the community in their time of need is fulfilling while others feel it’s their obligation to serve the community. Others just want to belong to a team. LFVC offers many challenging situations from fires to motor vehicle accidents to sick and/or injured people. Your skills may be needed day or night, seven days a week, in any kind of weather, and very often under stressful and emotional circumstances. Yet these factors contribute to our profession being so personally rewarding. The personal rewards are many. Your sense of accomplishment when you help a sick person or help control a fire or perform a successful extrication at a motor vehicle accident, as a result of your training with us, will be beyond description. Your participation as a volunteer of LVFC will bring personal rewards and satisfaction, raise self esteem, and provide you with a sense of accomplishment and pride for a job well done.
