The Fire Department protects the Village of South Amherst as well as sections of four townships (Amherst, Brownhelm, Henrietta and New Russia). We also cover a section of the Ohio Turnpike. The Berlin Township Fire Department serves approximately 3700 residents and protects approximately 32 square miles. Berlin Township Fire Department also provides protection to the Village of Berlin Heights and portions of the Ohio Turnpike. The Berlin Township Fire Department is a volunteer department which responds to fire, rescue, hazmat, and EMS calls. Emergency Medical Responders (EMRs) answer EMS calls to assist North Central EMS with medical situations. We are currently taking applications from those who wish to serve their community and make a difference helping others. The department will send accepted candidates to EHOVE Fire Academy for state required training and certifications. Berlin Township also offers an Explorer Program for area high school students who wish to assist the department and train for future career or volunteer opportunities. | Requirements: Applicants must live within 5 minutes of one of our two stations.
