The JHFD has openings for volunteer firefighters. The department covers the Jasper Highlands community and sits on the Cumberland Plateau in Marion County, Tennessee. The department is an "All Hazards" organization that responds to all emergencies with the exception of calls for law enforcement. The responses include structural, vehicle, and wildland fires; motor vehicle collisions; emergency medical incidents; rescues, and other miscellaneous community requests. | Requirements: We welcome a broad category of applicants and train new members to become firefighters. Volunteers are needed to write letters during Tennessee Heartwood's various campaigns to help advocate for the protection of public lands. This role involves crafting persuasive and informative letters to support the organization's initiatives.

As a foster parent, you will care for cats and kittens, which may include bottle feeding newborns, socializing, caring for the sick or injured, and housing litters. This role requires a commitment and involves some training.

Join the TNR team to help trap, transport, recover, release, and educate about the benefits of spaying and neutering homeless cats. Volunteers work on colonies to ensure all cats are altered.

Participate in community cleanups to pick up litter around trails, parks, open spaces, neighborhoods, and city limits. Volunteers help discard large items and bags of trash, emphasizing the need for personal and communal interaction with nature.

Assist in connecting veterans and their families with essential resources such as dental care, home repair, job and housing assistance, and funeral services. Volunteers will help provide information and support to ensure veterans receive the honors and care they deserve.

Concert greeters provide a first face on concert nights. They are responsible for greeting and welcoming patrons, checking tickets, setting up program tables, and handing out programs. In addition, concert greeters answer basic questions about seating and accessibility. The ability to stand for approximately an hour is needed as is a personable demeanor.

The CSO has exciting education and community engagement plans for the coming season. Opportunities to volunteer here include serving as an usher for our Young People’s Concerts or open rehearsals, setting up and greeting for Spotlight Talks, and other special events. The ability to stand and the ability to greet and answer questions are needed.

Volunteers working with the concert box office will assist the Ticket Sales and Services Manager in selling tickets using our ticketing software, passing out will call tickets, and answering patron questions. The ability to hear in loud settings and the ability to stand for up to an hour are needed. Training will be provided.

Volunteers in the box office provide customer service assistance to the Ticket Sales and Services Manager, including greeting patrons, selling tickets over the phone and in person, and answering phone calls. Good computer and customer service skills are needed, and training on our ticketing software will be provided.

Drive cats between the Chattanooga Feral Cat Alliance headquarters and clinic appointments. Volunteers should be available on Wednesdays for drop-off and pick-up and must have a vehicle capable of holding up to four feral cat traps.

Join one of our nine volunteer teams to support various aspects of our mission, including administration, daily living, donations, events, mentoring, prayer, storefront, transportation, and vocational support. Volunteers play a crucial role in helping survivors on their journey to restoration.

Assist in the humane reduction of feral cat overpopulation by setting and monitoring traps, transporting trapped cats to the headquarters, and ensuring their safe return post-surgery. Volunteers must be comfortable lifting at least 25 lbs and have a reliable vehicle.

Assist with events, fundraisers, community clay days, or special projects as needed. Tasks may include setting up for a fundraiser, helping with a market or exhibition, or supporting staff with administrative tasks.

As a volunteer, you will work with exotic animals and educate the public on the ecological importance of reptiles and amphibians. This role involves engaging with the community to promote humane treatment of animals and conservation efforts.
