Must successfully pass a background check Must be in good physical condition Reside inside the District. (preferred) | Requirements: Physical Requirements Must be able to lift, move, and climb ladders Must be able to climb through rafters, on roofs, and through small spaces Must be able to open and close valves and be able to advance with charged hose while discharging water Must be able to carry heavy loads up and down stairs Must be able to run and drag hose Must be able to hear alarms and respond Must be able to effectively communicate via two-way radio and over the phone Must be able to grasp and effectively use hand tools such as chain saws, pike poles, axe, rope, shovel, etc. Other Requirements Meet department training requirements (12 hours quarterly). Meet minimum shift requirements (24 hours quarterly). Members should respond when available, to stations when called in for station coverage. This occurs when first out units are on large-scale calls, including fires, major car accidents, or other incidents that require a unit to be out of service for a significant length of time. Assist with the care and well-being of dogs and cats at Valley Hills Animal Rescue. Responsibilities include feeding, cleaning, and providing companionship to the animals. Volunteers are essential to the rescue's operations and help increase the number of animals saved.

Assist in our office by sorting and delivering books, filing, data recording, and preparing materials for reading programs. This role is essential for keeping our operations running smoothly and efficiently.

Help out at various community events and fairs by assisting with ticket sales, silent auctions, and more. Up to 30 volunteers are needed for each event, providing a great opportunity to engage with the community.

Join our #bookit reading resource program where you will read to children in classrooms. Volunteers model fluency, encourage imagination, and introduce students to different genres and authors, providing each child with a free book to take home.

Assist in bringing installations to life by painting, crafting, or building. Volunteers can also help spread the word about placemaking and set up or tear down seating at Park Central Square.

Join us at the O'Reilly Center for Hunger Relief to help sort and pack food for distribution. In a typical three-hour session, you will assist in providing over 300 meals to those in need. Volunteers are encouraged to schedule in advance and wear closed-toe shoes.

Join the Glean Team to help harvest excess produce from local farms and gardens that would otherwise go to waste. This opportunity helps provide fresh produce to our neighbors facing hunger and involves occasional pop-up sessions based on farm requests.
